The Ten Commandments of a Vintage (Antiques) Trader

A liitle bit of fun for all our fellow dealers out there

  1. Thou shalt not purchase more than you sell at a show.
  2. Thou shalt not steal space from thy neighbour, you will need them when you go roaming.
  3. Thou shalt not blow up the dodgy electric with badly wired stock, kettles or heaters.
  4. Thou shalt be patient with ‘customers’ who think they can buy your stock for half price.
  5. Thou shalt pray to the great weather gods for a dry unload & pack up.
  6. Thou shalt not forget to wear thermals at outside shows in the winter (or British summer).
  7. Thou shalt not buy more pieces for yourself than for the business.
  8. Thou shalt love & care for thy van (or car) & give it a name as you are lost without it!
  9. Thou shalt not be mean buying stock from fellow traders – they have to make a living too!
  10. Thou shalt have some downtime – a day off is not for buying new stock!
