Go East this May

May_2015_Haggerston_PosterWe are looking forward to our second Midcentury show of the year. This time its the Midcentury Show East at the fabulous Erno Goldfinger’s Haggerston School.

The show not only showcases the best in Midcentury design with dealers bringing the best furniture, ceramics, glass, wallpaper, vintage fabrics, industrial, clocks, collectable posters and much more – it also give you a chance to see the stunning architecture of the school.

Built in 1964-5 the school is now a Grade II listed building with its great use of space, innovative use of materials and cutting edge design. The Hungarian-born London-based Modernist was one of the first architects to develop the aesthetic use of concrete in the UK, inspired by Auguste Perret and Le Corbusier.

We will be bringing a selection of our fully serviced radiograms and record players, lighting, furniture and clocks. So make a date in your diary  – Sunday 17th May, 10am, but don’t just take our word for it, see what Time Out London says

Non-Stoptober!

October has started with a bang and it is non-stop for events and fairs.

We survived a busy, but wet and windy Festival of Antiques at the Showground, Peterborough last week.

This weekend we are looking forward to a fab time at the Midcentury Show East, brought to you by Modern Shows. The show is being held in the Erno Goldfinger designed secondary school, Haggerston, East London. It is a rare opportunity to see the inside of this recently refurbished Grade II listed building, built in the 1960s.

At the end of the month there is an exciting addition to our calendar – TWO new furniture fleas, from Judy’s Vintage. Both in London the new furniture fleas are taking place in Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton Hill on 19th October and Seymour Leisure Centre, Marylebone on 26th October. As usual there will be great range of Vintage, Retro and Mid Mod furniture and homewares. Just like Bethnal Green we will be bringing a selection of Record players, Radiograms, speakers, clocks, lighting, phones and other vintage technology.

Check out our events page for all the October shows and those we are attending for the rest of the year

London Furniture Fleas Galore!

Our very good friends – Judy’s Affordable Vintage are launching new Furniture Flea events throughout London this Autumn.

Yellow & Black (2)The original furniture flea was launched in November 2010 at York Hall, Bethnal Green and has been a staple of the London Vintage scene since its inception. Specialising in affordable original vintage, retro and Midcentury Modern furniture and homewares the show is a must on all vintage-holics calendars.

We have been an exhibitor since the beginning and specialise in supplying vintage technology which we refurbish for today’s modern living. This gives you the best of both worlds, classic styling and 21st century usability. We sell a selection of radiograms, record players, dial telephones, lighting, homewares and of course furniture at all fleas we attend.

The new furniture fleas  will be taking place in Lambeth Town Hall, Brixton Hill on 19th October and Seymour Leisure Centre, Marylebone on 26th October. These new shows will follow the successful format of the Bethnal Green Flea and we will be exhibiting at both.

September Sizzlers

With the new incarnation of the website settling in we are back out on the road after a busy festival season.

Furniture Flea

Looking forward to the East London Furniture Flea, York Hall, Bethnal Green on 7th Sept and the Antique and Collectors Fair at Alexandra Palace on the 14th.

The fair at Ally Pally has been taken over by IACF and this is the inaugural one – so should be a learning curve for all. We won’t be in our usual spot but we are still on a wall stall around the edge of the hall so keep an eye out for us.

Spring is gone and Summer is upon us

We had a very busy Spring visiting great cities around the country and attending fab antique and vintage fairs. We had a mad March run off our feet with a busy Furniture Flea & Mid Century Show at Dulwich. April saw us in London & Manchester with Judy’s Vintage Fair and in May we attended the second Mid Century Show at Haggerston School. The school was designed by celebrated modernist architect Erno Goldfinger in 1964 who studied under Auguste Perett in Paris. It is the only secondary school designed by Erno Goldfinger and is a grade II listed building. Amazing place and worth a visit in itself. We will be back there in October.

June saw us having a well deserved break, but not before we worked another Newark event with IACF – we love these amazingly huge fairs and it is a buyers and sellers delight. We closed June with a trip to the fab Victoria Baths in Hathersage Manchester, with Vintage Home Show.

We are looking forward to the rest of the summer and will expand on all the events we are attending.
